My artist life

My name is Pete. I call myslef "an Italian from Glasgow", as this describes both my origins, and where I feel I belong. To make things more complicated, I've actually lived in Switzerland  for 15 years, between 1999 and 2014. I am a medical doctor by training and until recently I have been a universty lecturer. For most of my adult life, however, I have also been a professional recording and performing artist. After taking early retirement from my academic position, I am now a full-time musician.

A George Benson-style smooth jazz guitarist, I already used to perform a lot during my university years (exactly 100 live gigs the year I got my MD...). After that, for many years I've been almost exclusively a studio artist. The music I composed, recorded and produced together with my wife, Scottish major labels singer Angela Higney, has appeared on some 200,000 CDs worldwide to date and I have written the soundtrack for two award-winning mountaineering documentaries. You will find recording credits and sound samples in the "recording" section of the website.

Then, the new millennium brought about the demise of the recording industry. The two record labels we were signed to went out of business, and that may well have been the end of my professional involvement in music. Mercifully, I was able to completely "recycle" myself on the live performances scene.
Since 2009, I have been playing an almost incredible average 120 live gigs per year.

Since settling back in Glasgow, in May 2014, I am totally immersed in the incredible musical scene of this "City of Music" as officially appointed by the United Nations.
